An Awesome Opportunity...

During November 11th to the 21st I got to do a training called Certificate IV Training and Assessment. It is a requirement to be a trained assessor in order to staff Discipleship Training Schools (DTS), which is something I would enjoy doing while I’m here. I don’t know when the opportunity will present itself to be able to staff a DTS, but I will be trained and ready! The training has 2 phases. I will complete the second phase in June.

There were 10 other staff members here at the base who did the training as well. We met every morning from about 8 to 12. We had two guest speakers fly in to lead the training and they did an amazing job. I learned so much! One of the speakers has his own business and helps big businesses learn how to work together in order to be successful. He is a very talented and gifted man.

He shared his testimony with us and how God is using his life. He challenged us by allowing us to figure things out on our own. His teaching consisted of asking a lot of questions so that we could get the revelation of the answers for ourselves. We talked about how the tone of our voice and our body language can really impact our conversations. He taught us by using activities so we could really understand how our students may feel in the classroom setting.

We talked about different learning styles: visual, kinesthetic and auditory; and how it is important to mix up teachings to suit the different types of learners. We learned appropriate ways to teach skills; giving specific steps to students and ample time. There was so much valuable information! I could go on for a couple of pages, but I won’t do that.

This training was an unexpected cost that I didn’t consider as part of my budget. The first phase cost $250 and I’m not sure how much phase 2 will cost. If you are interested in contributing to this cost you can send a tax deductible donation written to Cedar Square Friends Meeting, with Keevy Harris in the memo. You could put it in the offering plate at Cedar Square or mail it to Debbi Harris, 4114 Plainfield Road, Sophia, NC 27350. Thank you so much for considering this; may the Lord bless you for your generosity!

I also wanted to let you know that there is another option of making donations. You can donate on-line through the base web-site. Right now the exchange rate is in our favor. Say you wanted to donate $50 US then it would really be $77 AUS. I have put a link on this page, you can find it on the left hand side, right above the slideshow of pictures. (Note when donating: The amount you enter in is in Australian dollars and there is a 2% surcharge)

“Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambasador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.”
Ephesians 6:19-20

LOVE YOU, girl! And, this sounds like it was a wonderful opportunity. Sounds like you learned the kind of things that we all need and can be applied anywhere the Lord sends you. Know that we continue to pray for you daily here in NC. We love you! The Dillons in PG
