I made the transition from working in accounts to staffing our July Discipleship Training School (DTS). It was 4 weeks ago that I began staff training for the school. We talked about how each of the staff has been chosen by God to be a staff for the school, not because of our gifts or because we have proved ourselves but because God loves us. It takes so much pressure off knowing that I don’t have to prove myself as a leader; I have been called to staff the DTS because I am loved. And God can use my gifts in the process.
We also talked about strengthening ourselves in the Lord. In 1 Samuel 30 David went through some pretty crazy stuff. His wife and children were taken captive and his town destroyed by fire. His own men even turned against him and wanted to stone him. David was greatly distressed and even wept until he could weep no more. But the first thing David did was found strength in the Lord. What’s our first response when we face a trial?
It was 2 weeks ago that we kicked off the DTS. There are 22 students and 5 staff from 7 different nations (America, Australia, Canada, Scotland, England, New Zealand, and Fiji). It’s hard to believe that we’re about to start our third week of the school because I’ve been looking forward to staffing a school since I was student on my DTS; which was nearly 2 years ago. So far we’ve talked about hearing the voice of God and having a clear conscience before the Lord.
We talked about earnestly seeking the Lord and what that may look like; how we are called to desperately desire relationship with the Lord. We looked at the character of God and how we first need to understand who God is in order to hear from Him. God is personal; He will speak to you in a way that you understand. God wants to meet with us and He makes it easy for us.
A couple other things that stood out to me were: When you stand before God will you be able to say I have done all you asked me to do; Acts 24:16; and will you walk uprightly before God.
I’m just blown away by God’s love for us and how much He desires to see us reach our full potential. I look forward to keeping you posted on how God will continue to move on this school!

Thanks so much for the update, Keevy. It is obvious to me that you are exactly where God wants you to be at this particular time in your life, because you are so passionate about your work. God will no doubt continue to bless you in ways you can't even imagine simply because of the heart you put into all the DTS students and all that you do through YWAM. I love you and can't wait to hear more about the next few weeks! Know that we'll continue to pray for you daily. Tammy, Josh & Steven
It seems like only yesterday that you were pouring beans on my head in Alabama! Oh how time flies! I am excited for you to get the opportunity to lead a DTS. I know that God will use and teach you at the same time!
Hey, I love you and I'm so proud of you letting God lead. I do miss you though. I'll be praying for you like always.
